SpiceBuild consists of a friendly and highly driven team of carpenters with skill levels that range from apprentices through to LBP qualified and experienced Project Managers. We are a team of hardworking individuals with a positive outlook. This directly results in high quality projects for our clients. We all share a passion to build and it is this passion mixed with our experience, that helps us to be leaders in our industry.
Starting out, Matt Spicer (Director) studied Industrial Design at Victoria University. It was there that his passion for getting hands on and creating projects began. Following a passion for construction, the move was made to embark on a building career.
Having a design background has been fundamental in helping Matt to visualize and understand the elements of the design process within a project. This knowledge has been highly beneficial when running architectural projects that involve many detailed elements.
Matt has been fortunate to build a company based on strong honest relationships with staff, architects, engineers and clients. He gains great satisfaction in training his staff and challenging them to be the best at what they do.
Trying to figure out what to do after college, Aaron decided that his passions were based around the Physical World – making stuff that you could touch and see. This moved him to Wellington to start an apprenticeship in Carpentry. Moving forwards his time was spent as a Foreman on Alterations and Additions and New Build Residential work on high-end homes, creating stunning award-winning residences for his Clients.
The lure of furthering his management ability and skillset took him to the Commercial market where Aaron spent years in roles both as a Site Manager and a Project Manager with a passion for big structures, leading teams and delivering epic projects. These included high-rise residential apartments, student accommodation, massive industrial storage shed for international distributor, Historic building seismic re-strengthening and retrofit to office space, and multi-storey hotel development.
Aaron moved back to the Residential market because of the attitude of the guys that he saw at SpiceBuild and the quality work they were producing. It was an opportunity to share the skills he’d gained over the last 13yrs in building and use them to help build the teams and the company and what we can deliver to our clients at SpiceBuild.
I’m a Hutt Valley girl born and bred currently living in the Eastbourne Bays. I spent 5 years out of New Zealand between 1987 & 1992 working in London & on the Gold Coast in a variety of financial management roles. During this time I developed extensive skills in business finance and accounting.
Since returning to New Zealand I’ve had a number of financial management roles including looking after several small businesses from home after having my third child.
Property and house renovations have always been a personal interest of mine, so I’m enjoying working in the building industry with a great team and all just a 4 minute commute from home.
We are interested in motivated and skilled individuals that have a passion for construction. If a positive and driven team environment is something you value, please send your resume to email@example.com
